The 73rd Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs (MCAA 2024)

The Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, part of the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame, is pleased to host the 73rd Annual Meeting of the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs (MCAA), September 13-15, 2024.
We welcome proposals for panels, roundtables, and individual papers from all disciplines focusing on East and Inner Asia, Northeast Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Asian Diaspora as well as comparative, inter-Asian, and global Asia topics. We also welcome scholars and students from all regions. Faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students (presenting on separate junior scholar panels), as well as independent scholars, are encouraged to share their work, receive feedback, and network at the conference.
The MCAA also awards several student prizes at the graduate and undergraduate levels. More information about the submission and deadlines for these prizes is available under Prizes and Awards. The MCAA 2024 will consist of in-person sessions only. All speakers must be present at the in-person session during the scheduled time.

Individual Papers: Proposals should include (1) Presenter's name, affiliation, position, and contact information, including email addresses, and (2) Paper title and summary (250 words maximum).
- Panels and Roundtables: Proposals should include (1) a list of participants, their paper titles, their affiliations, their positions, departments, and their contact information, including email addresses, and (2) A panel summary (1000 words max.) that includes a brief description of each paper and makes clear the connection between the papers.
